Matt Reeves, the Batman director, explains why he became “dead-set” while casting Robert Pattinson as Dark Knight, the iconic Bruce Wayne in his upcoming film. Although, it was also revealed that Robert Pattinson may not have been the obvious actor to play the Dark Knight.
He also cited not only Pattinson’s relative youth but also his demonstrated ability to convey specific emotions that connect to the iconic superhero. Reeves also declared in an interview with Esquire.
And while the process of writing the movie was going he watched the 2017 film i.e Good Time, and I thought, ‘Okay, he’s got an inner kind of rage that connects to his character and his dangerousness, and said that I can feel this desperation.’ And hence, I became dead-set on being Rob.

Reeves admitted that Good Time was one of his smaller-budget projects in which it starred Pattinson after his breakout performances in the Twilight films. Said that he had “no idea Pattinson had any interest” in becoming the next Batman.
However, Pattinson was up with another role at that time and he said in a separate interview that even he had no idea that Reeves had seen “Good Time” and thought that he wanted to do a really dirty, slimy Batman.”
