Director Ryan Coogler debuted the film’s first gorgeous teaser at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022. The Black Panther movie teaser teased a glance at a new outfit for the guardian of Wakanda, even if it didn’t indicate who would be playing the part.
Many fans are speculating it is Shuri, the new Black Panther. In light of this, a billboard depicting the new hero’s helmet and other movie hints. It’s a pretty wise assumption, especially considering her comic book background. So, is Shuri the new Black Panther? Here is all we know…
Is Shuri The New Black Panther?
Black Panther Vol. 4 #2, written by Reginald Hudlin and drawn by John Romita Jr., featured Shuri for the first time in 2005.
A Black Panther sibling is T’Challa’s younger sister, who is powerful, witty, and bright, just like she is in the movies.
It would take her almost five years to take on the role of Black Panther in Black Panther Vol. 5 #5. This developed during Marvel’s Dark Reign saga.
Namor begged T’Challa to join them in the battle as Norman Osborn gathered his Cabal.
When the King declined, his spacecraft crashed not long after. T’Challa was rendered unconscious, and Wakanda was left without a Black Panther. The superhero from the X-Men team, Storm, suggests that Shuri replace T’Challa as the Black Panther.
So, is Shuri the new Black Panther? After Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the identity of the new Black Panther has not yet been made official by Marvel Studios.
Many characters have been suggested as potential candidates for the position, with hypotheses including Shuri, M’Baku, Nakia, and even Killmonger. Lupita Nyong’o is opposed to recasting Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther.

Following her breakout performance in Black Panther? Shuri is more likely to carry Boseman’s legacy due to his tragic demise.
It would fit with the current phase of researching heritage heroes and the canon of comic books is undergoing at Marvel Studio.
But it’s crucial to remember that other characters from Marvel’s publications have also donned the Black Panther cap, besides Shuri. However, she is not the only candidate to succeed Black Panther in the MCU.
Kasper Cole, a police officer in New York City, T’Chaka, T’Challa’s dad, and even Erik Killmonger, are among the select few who hold the title.
Although Cole and Killmonger were both mentioned as possible rivals, it still appears that Shuri will be the upcoming MCU Black Panther.
The latest Wakanda Forever teaser even got us a closer look at the new Black Panther, and the marks on the helmet resemble the white spots Shuri has been known to wear.
