The show takes place following the murder of Xavier, a well-known pop artist, at a high-school reunion party. Tiffany Haddish’s Detective Danner is in charge of the investigation, and she must question all partygoers to uncover the culprit.
However, to Danner’s dismay, each guest gives a different narrative of the events leading up to the murder. The Afterparty was renewed for season 2 by Apple TV+ in March after critics praised it for its hilarious characters and genre-bending take on the whodunit format.

The comedy series has hired two new actors for its second season. Will Greenberg of Wrecked and John Gemberling of Big Mouth have joined The Afterparty season 2 in recurring roles.
