While the MCU’s Spider-man fans are still trying to catch their breath after the whirlwind that was Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony Pictures is hard at work on its plans for a Spider-Man spinoff movie universe while the MCU waits.
Venom, Morbius, and now Madame Web are part of a larger plot arc dubbed the “Sony Spider-Man Universe.”
With S.J. Clarkson in charge, the Madame Web film has been developing for a long time.
There is also a rumour that Dakota Johnson will play Madame Web and Emma Roberts in an unspecified role. And there’s more to come.
Sydney Sweeney, the breakthrough star of Euphoria (and a recent Emmy candidate), has been cast in the Spider-Man spinoff movie, but her character has yet to be revealed.
She hasn’t told the specifics of her character, but she has talked about the film and where it’s now being shot.

In Her Marvel Dream, Sydney Sweeney
Syndey Sweeney, the upcoming film Madame Web star, talked about her first journey into the Sony Spider-Man spinoff movie, in interviews with Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
She verified the joyful news that Madame Web had begun filming when Variety asked her about her upcoming projects. She couldn’t say anything about her character since she was not supposed to.
“As of right now, I’m filming Madame Web. As for my character, I can’t say much about it, but I’m incredibly thrilled about it. This was my first experience with a Marvel film. In other words, It was a lot of fun, a lot of training, and just a lot of preparatory work.”
She told The Hollywood Reporter that she “grew up admiring Marvel movies” and has “dreamt of being able to be a part of something bigger than life itself: The Spider-Man franchise.”
“Oh my gosh, what a mess. In my opinion, superheroes are the best thing since sliced bread. My only aspiration was to be a part of something greater than myself. This is what Madame Web gives me the impression I’ll be a part of.”

Madame Web’s directing crew and cast have a lot going for them, despite the Morbius debacle, so it’s hard not to be excited about it.
Clarkson, a newcomer to filmmaking, has already shown herself on the small screen as a talented filmmaker; Johnson, a consummate performer; and Sweeney, one of Hollywood’s most promising young actors.
Also, even though it feels like this project has been in development for a long time, it finally appears to be moving forward and entering the camera.
As soon as Sydney Sweeney is back on set, the first views of the Spider-Man spinoff movie will begin to emerge.
The huge unanswered question is who exactly Sweeney is portraying. Felicia Hardy/Black Cat and Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen are two of the most frequently used names in online conspiracy theories.
