Sidney Parker has passed away! The long-awaited Season 2 debut of PBS drama Sanditon lost no time revealing his destiny: the fiery Regency gentleman, who was about to propose to Charlotte Heywood until fate interfered at the end of the first season, died of yellow fever while on vacation in Antigua.
Sidney’s funeral opened the program. Charlotte (Rose Williams) was dancing up a storm back home in Willingdon when Sidney’s sister-in-law Mary (Kate Ashfield) informed her of his death.
Will Theo James return in Sanditon Season 3?
Viewers have heard for a year that Theo James, who plays Sidney, will not return for the Masterpiece series’ second season. Charlotte and Sidney’s aspirations of living happily ever after were destroyed when he left. Season 1 ended with Sidney agreeing to marry his former fiancée to save his brother from debtor’s prison. But is Sidney’s death necessary?
According to new head writer Justin Young, Sidney’s premature death will echo throughout the season, who spoke at a Television Critics Association conference in January. He continued, “It provided us this huge emotional moment at the opening of the [season] that wants to set up all the tales.” “In a way, the season became about how everyone goes on from it.”
Sanditon Season 2 Spoilers: Was Sidney’s death necessary?
It didn’t seem feasible to bring in a fresh actor to portray the part. “We couldn’t recast since that would have jeopardized the world’s integrity,” Young explained. “It would have been absurd.” We felt we wanted to make it apparent to the audience straight away that he’s not coming back, even if [Charlotte] hopes he will. We wanted to let the audience grieve alongside Charlotte.”
Another PBS show, Downton Abbey, dealt with the exits of two popular characters, Dan Stevens’ Matthew Crawley and Jessica Brown Findlay’s Lady Sybil Branson, when their actors wished to quit the show: by murdering them and illustrating how their fellow humans dealt with their loss.

Sanditon Season 2 Spoilers: How Theo James Was Written Out?
The Masterpiece PBS series addressed what occurred to Theo’s Sidney Parker upon his departure from the show at the season two premiere on March 20. Sidney’s funeral was the focal point of the new episode. Yes, Sanditon assassinated the handsome Regency-era gentleman.

So, how did Sidney pass away? Sidney suffered yellow fever and died in Antigua after marrying Eliza Campion (Ruth Kearney) for her fortune.
How did leading lady Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) find out about it? While dancing at a reception in her hometown, she received the devastating news. That’ll ruin the celebration.
Sanditon’s second season renewal occurred over two years after its first cancellation at ITV (Sanditon’s original network). Theo had booked HBO’s TV version of The Time Traveler’s Wife during that time. Even still, we were hoping for a quick reappearance for the actor until Sanditon Season 2 spoilers dropped.
Due to a three-month time shift, Season 2 of Sanditon is already continuing along without Sidney. And it appears like Masterpiece PBS is keeping its promise made in May that the Sanditon heroine will have “plenty of romance.” In the premiere, Colonel Francis Lennox (Tom Weston-Jones) and Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes) were introduced as prospective suitors for Charlotte.

Sidney did not actually die.. a plot set up by Sydney…. And Sydney was not in the coffin.. it was someone else’s body .. he will reappear ..
I agree, I truly hope he reappears.
He was the main reason I became a fan of the show. No one can properly fill that slot.
That was a Misterious Death of Sidney .Did not see the Body only the Name on the Coffin.I don’t think he really died.So Hopefully he will come back in Series 3 Which I am waiting on his return. He Got to come Back we miss him in Series 2 and looking forward for his Return in Series 3 .Please Don’t Dissapointed your Viewers.
I completely agree with all the other post that Theo James is the reason him and Charlotte I became interested in the show they were great together and to lose him as the main one of the main characters was also I didn’t even watch the second season because of that their chemistry was amazing and I wish that PDS would bring him back somehow for Charlotte at least as as is everyone else and give him a proper departure if he’s going to leave.
Yes I was thoroughly disappointed and did not want to watch the second season at all due to the fact that Theo is Charlotte we’re not going to be together. Their chemistry was amazing. They’re both such great actors. I wish somehow that Sydney would return or Theo James is wonderful I can d a great great actor so is Charlotte and to have them out of him dishin is not worth watching to me.
