Tom Weston-Jones Reveals How He Entered The Show!!

When Tom was questioned how he joined the cast, he said, This was fairly straightforward. It was the standard method of auditioning. I received the script in a reasonable amount of time.

I was originally cast as Colbourne and auditioned for the role a few months before production began. Lennox was an unexpected twist. I pounced at it as soon as I read the character notes and saw where they saw him heading, what he exposes and who he is, and the idea that he has a public image and something very different in private.

Is Colonel Lennox the main villain in Sanditon? Here is your answer.

Colonel Francis Lennox (Tom Weston-Jones) in Sanditon Season 2 has an uneasy air about him. At the start of season 2, Lennox led a British Army unit to Sanditon, and he made love advances to Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams).

Colonel Lennox and his brigade were warmly welcomed to Sanditon, but there are cracks in his shining armor that make Lennox’s and the Army’s actions and motivations more suspect. Sanditon’s first genuine villain may turn out to be Lennox.

In the first season of Sanditon, there was no standard villain. In the early episodes, Charlotte thought of Sidney Parker (Theo James) as a villain because of his erratic behavior toward her.

Miss Heywood afterward suspected Mr. Parker of benefitting from slavery, which turned out to be untrue. Sidney, on the other hand, was far from a villain.

Otherwise, Sir Edward Denham (Jack Fox) was the closest thing Sanditon season 1 had to a villain, conspiring with Clara Brereton (Lily Sacofsky) to steal Lady Denham’s (Anne Reid) inheritance.

Both Edward and Clara were disinherited by Lady Denham, who exiled them from Sanditon. Despite this, Edward and Clara reappeared in Sanditon season 2.

While it may not appear shocking in today’s world, Jane Austen merely hinted at premarital sex and the perils of women being abandoned by adventuresome boyfriends in her novels. Jane Austen finds the idea that Lennox left a pregnant Lucy who afterward became deathly sick on purpose disturbing.

When Decider met with showrunner Justin Young last month, he defended his decision. He noted that the Esther/Edward plot from Season 1 was dark in a sexual aspect, which Masterpiece intended to avoid in Season 2. Still, Austen’s work on Sanditon revealed she was creating new territory with her voice.

So, what do you think – is Colonel Lennox the main villain in Sanditon and if yes how will he dominate the future of the show? Share your thoughts in the comment box. Happy watching!!

  1. I watch now because I love the period dramas but hate the plot turns in season 2. Sidney should never have left. I hope Clara comes back. Charlotte’s love interest in Season 2 has absolutely no spark. Hope he stays gone. I hope Esther and Clair come back but miss Lamb is snotty and obnoxious. If actor playing Sidney couldn’t continue they shouldn’t have used him. If you are going to produce an Austin make it an Austin. This not how one of her books would unfold. Creative license ruined what we expect from Austin.

  2. I loved the first season and all the characters, but I love season 2 just the same. I was sad to hear that there will only be 3 seasons. Every show is so exciting I could continue watching season after season.

  3. Right now, Sidney and Tom are still the villains when it comes to Charlotte. Tom, because he never thinks of the sacrifices people make for his fame and fortune. Sidney, because he so far has offered Charlotte no closure for her sacrifice. She still has no idea how he truly regards her and he has written to everyone and righted his wrongs as best he could except for her. Unless something is revealed in season 3, she has a right to be cautious of putting her heart in the care of someone else. Twice she has be betrayed. Also far as Alexander is concerned, that’s a big maybe. Charlotte needs a letter from Sidney and an inheritance so she never has to put herself at the mercy of a man again.
