Lina Esco, who starred in S.W.A.T., is departing the show before the S.W.A.T Season 6, which has already been revealed. Since the first season of the programme began in 2017, the actress has played Christina ‘Chris’ Alonso, and she has now revealed that season five, which aired its conclusion in the United States on Sunday (May 22), will be her final season. But why is she leaving the show just before the much-anticipated S.W.A.T Season 6? Here is all we know.
Why Is Lina Esco Leaving The Show Just Before S.W.A.T Season 6?
Esco has spoken out about quitting the show and her beloved character to “pursue other artistic endeavors” in a statement. “It’s been a delight and a wonderful chance to enhance awareness for varied women everywhere by bringing to life a strong, intellectual, bisexual woman like Chris Alonso,” the actress stated.
“I’m quitting S.W.A.T. after five years to explore new artistic endeavors. Chris isn’t afraid of the unknown, and as an actor and director, I’m looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone and starting a new chapter as well.”
After Mama Pina was hospitalized, Chris made the choice to quit S.W.A.T. and take over the operation of a local safe home for immigrant women fleeing perilous situations, which has been playing out on screen in recent weeks.
“It’s been a delight and a wonderful chance to enhance awareness for varied women everywhere by bringing to life a strong, intellectual, bisexual woman like Chris Alonso,” the actress stated.

Chris worked her final day on S.W.A.T. last night and shared meaningful presents with her friends and coworkers as she said her goodbyes.
“I’m forever thankful to my S.W.A.T. family – my fellow cast, writers, and producers – for an extraordinary ride,” Esco said of leaving S.W.A.T., calling it “one of the most painful decisions” she’s had to make.
“To the incredible S.W.A.T. fans, you are the show’s heart. I can’t thank you enough for your help and for being by my side during Chris’ entire adventure!“

According to the S.W.A.T. showrunners, the actress initially informed producers of her plan to depart the programme a year ago.
“We’ve had the pleasure of seeing Lina Esco bring Chris Alonso to life on S.W.A.T. for five seasons and 106 episodes,” they wrote.
“We all worked hard to give Chris an appropriate, season-long sendoff when Lina came to us a year ago to express her wish to someday explore other endeavours, knowing what a significant, iconic figure she’s been to our viewers.”
“It’s difficult to replace what Lina brought to the programme and what Chris represented to our viewers. We’ll miss Chris, but especially Lina, and we wish her all the best in whatever she decides to do next.”
So, as per the latest leaks, Lina Esco will not be a part of S.W.A.T Season 6. What are your views on this matter? Tell us in the comment box.
