A few days back, an update was dropped on social media, which stunned the audience. The announcement was that Director Todd Phillips is developing a screenplay for the Joker sequel alongside co-writer Scott Silver.

Quinn, the former Arkham Asylum psychologist who appeared in Batman-related stories as the Joker’s sidekick and love interest, is now set to be played by Lady Gaga.

Fans are excited about Lady Gaga’s new role as it will be the first we will be seeing Lady Gaga as a Superhero if the deal goes on.

In the 2016 film Suicide Squad and its 2021 sequel, Margot Robbie portrayed Harley Quinn. Robbie’s character was also the main character in the 2020 superhero film Birds of Prey.

According to the Reporter, Joker 2’s Quinn will “exist in a distinct DC universe than Robbie’s Harley Quinn,” implying that previous iterations of the character will have little relation to Quinn.

The film’s title may be “Folie à Deux,” a reference to a psychiatric condition in which two people share a delusion, which might allude to Quinn’s position in the narrative.

Todd Phillips, director, and co-writer, posted a script cover page on Wednesday on social media.

Phillips also shared a photo of Phoenix reading the script on social media, although sources claim that Phoenix has not yet agreed to join the project.

According to references from The Reporter, “Warners has yet to reach an agreement with the actor, with the two sides still in serious discussions.” Still, it is unlikely that the project will go ahead without his participation.

What can we expect from the Joker sequel?

Joker was far from a sure thing when Warners initially released it. The project was a Taxi Driver-meets-King of Comedy descent into insanity set in the late 1970s, a dark and dreary character study. It was only budgeted at $60 million because commercial prospects were deemed nominal.

Joker was riding a wave of admiration from the autumn film festivals when it came out in October 2019, and box office analysts were changing their predictions hourly. It was the No. 4 highest-grossing R-rated film when it came to theaters.

It was nominated for 11 Oscar awards, including best picture and best picture, and won two: best actor (for Phoenix) and best music (for Hildur Gudnadottir).

Lady Gaga has received Oscar, Bafta, and Golden Globe nominations for best actress for House of Gucci, indicating that her transition into cinema acting has been a rousing success.

But the fans are really excited to see her step into the Superhero world as Harley Quinn. So what are you expecting from her? Will she be able to do justice to her new character? Comment your views to let us know about it.
