The COVID-19 protocols

There was speculation online that McKay had been written out of the show because he didn’t get vaccinated, but it turned out Smith wasn’t unvaccinated after all.

In an interview with HBO Magazine (and other media outlets), production company comments said “McKay’s storyline was planned before COVID-19 pandemic”, and they compliantly followed protocols

while filming on set – no mention whatsoever about being compensated or exempt from shots like some people speculated might happen during this recent virus scare.

In the meantime, fans can only speculate about what happened to McKay. However, one thing is for sure: his disappearance has left a gaping hole in Euphoria’s plot. 

What does McKay build his identity on now that he’s not a high school football star anymore? 

We’re left wondering how to deal with the trauma from abuse at hand. And we don’t know what will happen in future seasons if Euphoria doesn’t get renewed for another chapter soon enough!
