Doctor Strange 2 is set to hit theaters in May 2022, and it may just see the end of the multiverse as we know it. The movie is set to be a direct sequel to Doctor Strange and will follow the Sorcerer Supreme as he tries to fix the MCU multiverse that has been causing problems for the main timeline.
With Doctor Strange’s magic at his disposal, could he finally put an end to the multiverse once and for all?
Doctor Strange has been prepared by the MCU to take on this task. Doctor Strange is set after Avengers: Endgame, when Doctor Strange helped Thanos kill half of humanity in order to save the universe.
Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange was a former surgeon who had his hands damaged and could no longer perform surgery due to an accident caused by a drunk driver. Doctor Strange found an Ancient One, who taught Doctor Strange the mystic arts and Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange became a powerful sorcerer known as Doctor Strange.
The Time Variance Authority is a multiverse organization that polices the timeline and Doctor Strange looks like he will be going to their headquarters. Doctor Strange is responsible for fixing the MCU’s time-traveling problems, but Doctor Strange may also have to fix the multiverse problems as well.

Doctor Strange has been set up by Avengers Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely as a character who could potentially end the multiverse once and for all in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness.
Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange is not only responsible for saving his timeline from Thanos’ finger snap, but Doctor Strange may also have to save his timeline from itself. During Avengers: Infinity War, Tony Stark had traveled back in time so then Tony Stark could gather the Stones before Thanos could get his hands on them.
This created a problem in the Doctor Strange timeline, as it was now two different universes that were coexisting together and Doctor Strange had to fix the multiverse by erasing Tony Stark from existence.
While Doctor Strange is able to save the day in Infinity War, there are still constant problems with the multiverse in the MCU. In Avengers: Endgame, time travel was used once again but this time it caused more problems than ever before.
The biggest issue was that all of the alternate timelines were crashing into each other and it was starting to destroy reality. It’s unclear if Doctor Strange will be able to solve this problem in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness, but it’s looking like he may be the only one who can.
