Being a DC fan has been both a joy and a crazy ride. Several predictions and contradictory stories have circulated about Aquaman actress Amber Heard’s role in the DCEU, but don’t trust everything you hear.
There is no recasting for Heard’s character as Mera in the upcoming sequel, contrary to previous reports indicating her removal from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Amber Heard’s squad quickly refuted those claims.
“The rumor mill continues as it has since day one: incorrect, insensitive, and somewhat insane,” a representative for the actress told Variety and The Independent. It arrives the same week as Heard’s first interview since the trial. The issue has yet to be addressed by Warner Bros.
How did the rumors spread about the recasting of Amber Heard in Aquaman 2?
Heard was convicted of $15 million in damages and found guilty. WB had previously considered recasting the actress in the past, and Heard was unsure if she would make the film’s final cut, according to Walter Hamada of DC Films.
According to an inside source who reported, “Warner Bros. after screen testing the picture, the producers decided to replace Amber Heard in Aquaman 2. They’ll be reshooting scenes with Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman. But according to Amber’s Spokesperson, that also does not seem to be the case.
Aquaman 2 Release date update!!
Aquaman 2 is in post-production, and we expect its release on March 17, 2023. It seemed odd that WB would replace Heard so late in the game.
The James Wan picture has already been postponed once and is now entirely shot. It was scheduled to come out in December, but due to a post-production crunch, it will now release in March of next year.
It wouldn’t be as simple as replacing a few dialogue sequences to replace Amber Heard in Aquaman 2. The character has a lot of rigging/wirework, much like Aquaman himself. Mera was a part of almost all major action set pieces the first time around, and underwater battles are a big part of the series.
