Yellowstone 1883 Is Back!! Taylor Sheridan Revealed A 1883 Spinoff Is In Works

Last year, with the prequel 1883, Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan swiftly extended his TV universe. 1883 Season 1 turned out to be a blockbuster and now the creator is adding more spice to it. Taylor Sheridan is gearing up to drop an official 1883 spinoff. Here is all we know.

1883 Is Back!!

1883 Spinoff

The 1883 series chronicled the first generation of Duttons who crossed the Oregon Trail and settled in Montana, including Yellowstone’s John Dutton (Kevin Costner).

The success of 1883 prompted Sheridan and Paramount to make significant adjustments to the series. There’s even an 1883 spinoff in the works, albeit it’s not the one fans expected.

‘1883’, a precursor to ‘Yellowstone,’ will return with ‘extra episodes later this year’

Sheridan made some modifications to presenting the Dutton family tale, with Yellowstone being the most-watched TV program of 2021 — and 1883 being an excellent smash for streamer Paramount+.

They were initially planned in season 2 of 1883 to focus on the next generation of Duttons in the early 1900s. But now that 1883 is deemed a limited series, the intended second season has been transformed into a narrative for a whole new prequel starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren called 1932.

According to the release, the series will follow a new Dutton generation “during the time of western expansion, pandemics, Prohibition, and the Great Depression,” according to the release.

Before the release of 1932 in December — and during Yellowstone season 5’s mid-season break — Paramount+ will air more episodes of 1883 to wrap up James and Margaret Dutton’s saga and move to the next generation.

1883 spinoff is in the works, but it’s not the one fans expected

Sheridan has nine shows on the air or in development, one of which is a 1883 spinoff.

According to sources, David Oyelowo will feature in the 1883 spinoff: The Bass Reeves Story on Paramount+, which is based on the actual story of a legendary Oklahoma lawman.

Reeves was the first black deputy United States Marshal west of the Mississippi River, born in 1838.

He patrolled the whole Oklahoma Territory before it became a state, apprehending nearly 3,000 offenders without sustaining any injuries. He was the basis for The Lone Ranger, a famed American frontier hero.

Through his production firm Yoruba Saxon, Oyelowo has sought to develop a series about Reeves for six years. They, like Sheridan, have an overall arrangement with Paramount Global (previously ViacomCBS). The idea didn’t get the go-light until the designer of Yellowstone got involved.

The series wasn’t linked initially to Yellowstone when it was announced last year. However, it will now be a part of the Yellowstone universe, offering a distinct tale set in the same era as the prequel 1883.

“Our concert takes place around the same time. “[Production partner] Jess and I were down in Texas with those guys recently shooting 1883, and that’s very much the universe our show plays out in,” Oyelowo said in February to The Wrap.

Seasons 1 through 4 of Yellowstone is now available on Peacock. On Paramount+, 1883 is now streaming. 1883: The Bass Reeves Story has yet to be given a premiere date.

Will there be Elsa in the 1883 spinoff? We know this question will be bothering you. But sadly, we don’t have any confirmed updates. Make sure to stay tuned as we will bring you some more news on the upcoming 1883 spinoff really soon.
